October 22, 1960

James Nichols, the Big 8 Conference leading scorer, scored on runs of 5 and 10 yards as Laurel rolled over Natchez, 38-7. Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Pitts both ran 6 yards for touchdowns while Chet Bergalowski hit Tommy Keyes on a 38-yard TD pass. Ken Biglane hit John Wright for the final points. Frank Drennan scored four touchdowns as Calhoun downed Mize, 32-20. Jimmy Thomas scored four times and Doug Satcher tallied three times as Sandersville blanked Myrick, 46-0. Ralph Wadsworth scored twice as Ellisville beat Stonewall, 20-13.

October 23, 2010

Ben Stevens hit Devontay Barnett and D.J. Robinson on TD passes as West Jones whipped Wayne County, 40-14. Matthew Farrar returned an interception for a score and Ervin Gavin tallied on a 5-yard run for the Mustangs. Hunter Estess also drilled two field goals for the Mustangs.

October 24, 1970

Arthur Dixon, Delta Henderson and Willie Triplett each scored twice as Laurel rolled over Cleveland, 47-18. West Jones blanked FCAHS, 14-0, as Wade Garvin scored on a 1-yard run and Mark Ray returned a fumble 45 yards for Mustang scores. NEJ upset Petal, 8-6. Mike McLemore rushed for 136 yards and ran 1 yard for the Tiger touchdown and conversion.

October 25, 1970

David Cooley passed for two touchdowns and ran for one as Jones blasted Northwest, 38-7. George Peebles also scored on two runs for the Bobcats.

Ole Miss played their first game without Coach John Vaught since 1947 as they defeated Vanderbilt, 26-16. Vaught suffered a mild heart attack earlier in the week and Bruiser Kinard took the reins. Lewis Grubbs scored three times as Mississippi State blasted Southern Miss, 51-15.

October 26, 1980

Leo Shelby scored on a 9-yard run and Earl Bridges’ conversion led South Jones over Harrison Central, 11-7. Gary Vanderslice added a 33-yard field goal for the Braves. Michael Thomas scored three times as West Jones downed Monticello, 35-13. Julius Deloach returned an interception 40 yards and Kip Simpson bulled his way 1 yard. Greg Rodgers passed to Andy Pettigrew and ran for another score, but Northeast Jones fell to Petal, 23-13. McComb blanked Laurel, 17-0.

October 27, 1975

Claude Lang passed for one score and ran for another as Jones downed Co-Lin, 28-13. Lang hit David Smith for a 10-yard score while Dennis Gibson hit Skip Golding on a 2-yard pass play. John Tannehill ran three yards for the final Bobcat touchdown.

October 28, 2000

Scott Robertson rushed for 184 yards and three scores as South Jones whipped NE Jones, 29-6. Jonathan Robertson led the defense with 18 tackles and an interception.

Laurel moved to 10-0 with a 24-13 win over Quitman. Alexander Murry scored on two 3-yard runs while Alonzo Nix returned a punt 54 yards for the winners. West Jones upset Biloxi, 12-10, as Chester Keyes scored on runs of 44 and 2 yards.

Derek McKee hit Scott McInnis three times for scores as Heidelberg Academy (10-1) opened playoff action with a 49-19 romp over East Holmes
