Week 11 Sports601 Smith County Player of the Week

By Brad Crowe

Occasionally situations call for the use of the phrase, “less is more.”

One could say that was the case last Friday night for Taylorsville’s Tycarious Roberts, as he used merely five touches to completely change the game for the Tartars.

His contribution to the big win over the Clarkdale Bulldogs earns him the honor of being this week’s Sports601 Smith County Player of the Week.

Roberts’ carries all came in the fray half of the game, and they added up to 104 total rushing yards with one touchdown. His 20 yards per carry over the first half made it nearly impossible for the Bulldogs to get the Tartar’s offense off the field, ultimately resulting in a 34-6 victory.

Taylorsville now enters the postseason as the No.1 seed in Region 5-2A, being heralded as one of the most dangerous teams in their class due to a record-breaking passing attack and explosive rushing performances such as that of Tycarious last Friday.

Roberts and the Tartars will be back in action this coming Friday when they host Bogue Chitto in the first round of playoffs.
