The Taylorsville Tartars are continuing to light up scoreboards each week, now 5-0 on the season going into region play. The team’s passing attack has played a huge part in their success, with the second most passing yards of any team in the state of Mississippi.
One of their biggest weapons has been senior receiver Malik Strickland, who has been chosen as our Sports601 Smith County Player of the Week for his standout performance against Columbia.
Strickland caught three passes in the game for a total of 117 yards, two of which he carried into the end zone for touchdowns.

The senior leads the team in total receiving yards with 395, and he’s also the leading scorer with five receiving touchdowns on the season. He is averaging an incredible 30 yards per reception through five games.
The Tartars are looking more and more dangerous week by week, as incredible athletes such as Malik Strickland continue to put up stellar performances such as this one.
