"The fourth quarter is ours."
That is the mantra Taylorsville lives by according to Jeffery Pittman. The senior running back took that to heart Friday night as he bounced around, off of, and through Jackson Prep defenders in the fourth quarter in-route to a 47-37 victory over the Patriots.
"That fourth quarter is our quarter. That's something we understand at Taylorsville. It's something we always keep with us, and for some reason, we always tend to play at a higher level."
Taylorsville head coach Mitch Evans stated he did not know what colleges were waiting for to offer the senior running back a scholarship.
Pittman proved why colleges should look at him as he rushed 30 times for 204 yards and four touchdowns in the win.
"The linemen did a good job all night. When you have linemen doing things like they were, you have to make plays. I just happened to be the man with the ball Friday night," said Pittman.
The senior - described as an athlete on his banner outside of the stadium - has rushed for 397 yards on the season, with a 7.1 yards per carry average and six rushing touchdowns.
While the revenge over Jackson Prep felt good, Pittman stated he and the team understand that there is a bigger goal to obtain.
"It felt good to beat them after they beat us [last season], but that's not our goal. Our goal is to win the state championship. We just expect to win."
Congratulations to Jeffery Pittman, your Sports601 State Farm Player of the Week!
