Day 1 of West Jones Holiday Basketball Classic concludes with West Jones girls and boys wins

West Jones began Day 1 of its annual two-day basketball tournament during the Christmas break on Thursday in Soso. Here are the results of Thursday’s games.

Day 2 of the West Jones Holiday Classic with begin at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon in Soso.

Harrison Central 68, Sumrall 23 (Girls)

Chyna Allen and Da’Mia Henry combined for 37 points in the tournament’s opening game to give Harrison Central its ninth win of the season according to MaxPreps.com. Allen finished with 19 points, while Henry netted 18.

Harrison Central outscored Sumrall in all four quarters of its contest and held the Lady Bobcats to one point in the final stanza. Shayla Price also scored in double-digits for Harrison Central with 12 points.

Sumrall 64, Raleigh 31 (Boys)

Dannis Jackson scored a game-high 20 points in Sumrall’s win over Raleigh. Sumrall improves to 8-5 overall according to MaxPreps.com.

Sumrall outscored Raleigh 22-5 in the second period to build its lead in the double-digits and pulled out the victory with a second-half performance as well.

Adarius Fairman also netted double-digits for Sumrall with 11 points.

 


 

West Jones 69, Seminary 20 (Girls)

Three players scored in double-digits to help West Jones win No. 12 on the season in convincing fashion. Jurnee McLaurin finished with a game-high 12 points, while Brianna Carr and Brishell scored 10 apiece.

After outscoring Seminary 48-12 in the first half, West Jones held its opponent scoreless in the third period to help seal the win. Eleven Lady Mustang players scored points in the contest.

West Jones 73, Seminary 62 (Boys)

West Jones held off a late charge by Seminary in the final minutes to defeat Seminary in the night-cap game.

Khalil Herron led West Jones with 17 points as three other Mustangs finished in double-digits. Peyton Brown added 14 points, while Coleion Page and Tajrick Randolph finished with 12 and 11, respectively.

West Jones held on for the win despite being outscored 26-16 in the final period.

Leon Watson lead Seminary with a game-high 27 points.
