Lumberton, Oak Grove, Purvis and Sumrall were all in action Monday in the Lamar County Basketball Tournament at Oak Grove.
Lumberton Lady Panthers 60, Sumrall 57
Led by Makia Willis’ 33 points, the Lady Panthers fought back from a 21-point second half deficit in winning the first game of the day. Sumrall built a 42-21 lead early in the third quarter, only to allow Willis and Lumberton to claw back into the contest and force overtime at 53-53. The Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Bobcats 7-4 in the extra period to pick up the win.
Jennifer Holder added 19 points for the Lady Panthers, who will face Oak Grove in the championship round Tuesday night at 7 pm.
Sumrall was led by Tianne Moore (21 points) and Rachel Green (16 points).
Lumberton Panthers 64, Sumrall 63Â
Like the Lady Panthers, the Panthers overcame a deficit to advance to the championship round. Sumrall led 49-43 entering the fourth quarter, but Lumberton was not done. The Panthers opened the quarter on a 7-0 run, taking a 50-49 lead on a three-pointer from Daylan Young. A couple of lead changes ensued, but Lumberton was able to hang on in the final seconds.
The Panthers were led by Roland O’Banner’s 15 points. They will face Oak Grove in the championship round Tuesday night at 8:30 pm.
Sumrall was led by Dannis Jackson’s 24 points.

Oak Grove Lady Warriors 57, Purvis 20
The Lady Warriors jumped out to a 19-3 lead in the first quarter and did not look back from there, cruising to a berth in the championship versus Lumberton. Jazmin Grayson scored a game-high 19 points to lead Oak Grove.
Bree Lowe led Purvis with 5 points.
Oak Grove Warriors 65, Purvis 36
The Warriors pulled away in the second quarter and kept building on their lead in the second half, picking up the win in the final game of the night. Noah Harris (15 points), Jeric Franklin (10 points) and Kelvin McGruder (10 points) all scored in double digits for Oak Grove, who will face Lumberton Tuesday night.
Matthew Ryals led Purvis with 11 points.
