It was an uncharacteristic year in Region 3-5A.
Brookhaven won the Region 3-5A title and not Laurel. West Jones, who missed the playoffs for the last two previous seasons, finished second in the region – largely in part to a huge win over Laurel. And as Laurel finished third, South Jones picked up its first playoff berth since 2009 by finishing fourth.
