What Dontavious Porter accomplished in Week 3 against Lumberton wasn’t surprising – especially to Heidelberg head coach Darius Dear.
Big guys just do big things.
“Dontavious did what we expected him to do before the season began,” said Dear. “All his runs were very physical and downhill. He overwhelmed Lumberton’s defense.
“He made an impact on the game from his first touchdown run of 67 yards. After that play, I think it opened up his eyes on what he could accomplish. He was on the delivering end of every score after that.”
Porter rushed for 206 yards on 21 carries in his team’s 20-18 win over Lumberton. The senior scored all 20 points for Heidelberg on three rushing touchdowns and a two-point conversion. He also passed for 52 yards on six completions.
