Week 3 of the MHSAA football season is here. The following are our game predictions involving Jasper County teams.
Morton at Bay Springs
The Panthers were a top 3A school in 2016 with possibly the best athlete in the state of MS, D.D. Bowie. That leaves me not knowing much about the talent remaining. They were smoked by 2A Scott Central last week. Did Scott Central improve that much or did Morton lose that much? The Bulldogs were run off the field last Friday by a talented Tornado squad. Bay Springs did have their chances to win but simply lost momentum late in the second half. I believe the Dogs are much better than what people think. Please prove me right, Bay Springs.

Enterprise at Stringer
The Red Devils should feel some relief after spanking Clarkdale in week two. They are 1-1 against Bulldog mascots. The Enterprise Bulldogs will bite harder than Clarkdale, but I don’t think they will draw the first drop of Stringer blood. Devils will put a fork in this one early. B-team gets ready for some reps.

Lumberton at Heidelberg
Heidelberg hit a buzz-saw last week. They were upset by what seems to be a much improved Southeast Lauderdale team. Everyone gives that a pass because it was to a larger 3A school. Now they face a poor little ole 1A school called Lumberton. Don’t get too comfy Oiler fans, and DO NOT pet the Panthers. They bite! This one could come down to the wire, but I believe the Oilers are too talented to slip and lose.

Newton County Academy at Sylva-Bay Academy
This little rivalry here needs very little fuel to add to the heat. The Saints do not like the Generals; the Generals do not like the Saints. This is not only a much needed positive momentum win for Sylva-Bay, but it is the first division match-up in 2017. This win means something from every perspective. The thing is, Newton is probably the more talented team, and the want it just as bad.
