Heidelberg at Southeast Lauderdale
The Oilers are seeking some revenge on the Tigers after being upset last year. Coach Chello has his Heidelberg team off to a good start, and SE Lauderdale lost to Quitman in game one. It’s hard to tell where teams are this early in the season, but I’m betting on the Oilers to win a close one.
Prediction: Heidelberg 22, Southeast Lauderdale 14
Bay Springs at Philadelphia
Speaking of close games…can the Bulldogs keep it close in Philly Friday night? Philadelphia is a hostile environment. The Tornadoes are coached by the legendary Bobby Hall. Hall was not there in 2017, but Bay Springs was manhandled by Philadelphia last season. As crazy as this sounds, my answer is yes. The Bulldogs will keep it so close that I’m calling another wild win on the road in 2018. Get ready to beat the zebras too, Dawgs. You know how those refs operate north of I-20…UPSET ALERT!!!
Prediction: Bay Springs 30, Philadelphia 22
Stringer at ClarkdaleÂ
Poor Clarkdale…the Red Devils have some frustration to release, and the Bulldogs are next on the list. This one will get ugly early, and I’m not sure if coach Brown will be able to slow his 3rd string down.
Prediction: Stringer 47, Clarkdale 0
Winston Academy at Sylva-Bay AcademyÂ
Not that I like to brag, but that pick last week was pretty spot on…smirking. The Saints just shocked MAIS with comeback, thrilling upset over Tri-County. Now comes Winston, who is one classification bigger than SBA. The Patriots have more athletes to choose from up there, and plenty enough athletes to beat Sylva-Bay. Question is…will Sylva-Bay have an emotional hangover, or are they itching to burn their next opponent? Burn, baby, burn! Things are heating up at Saint-Nation. I think the Saints win another barn burner, and this time the barn fire is at home.
Prediction: Sylva Bay Academy 21, Winston Academy 20
