Week 14 of high school football season is here. Here are Zach Buckley’s predictions for teams in Jasper County.
Collins (11-2) at Bay Springs (8-5)
It’s round three, and look who’s still standing in the blue corner as they belong in a heavyweight fight.
It’s those mighty young Bulldogs. They better get their legs under them, because the Champ is about to throw the sleep-makers on Friday. That Champ’s name is the Collins Tigers.
Yeah, Bay Springs went to the dance last year, and that’s cute to the Tigers. They have won FOUR titles, and the last thing on their mind is that little Brady bunch in the blue corner.
It’s been a great year for this young Bulldog team. They have yet again overachieved, but it’s time to meet coach Mackey in the gym to get in basketball shape after the Tigers paint your home field green.
Collins 36, Bay Springs 26
Stringer (10-3) at Nanih Wayia (13-0)
Whoh, boy. I am digging deep into finding a way the Red Devils can beat the Warriors.
Good thing I’m not coaching, because I feel that Stringer needs many bounces to pull the upset.
Please don’t take this personal, but Nanih Waiya is a minimum two-touchdown favorite to win according to common opponent scores. It is likely the Warriors will eliminate the Devil ground game. That puts a lot on a young quarterback. It’ll take more ‘Dyess-to-Dease’ touchdowns than Stringer can produce.
Let’s hope the Warriors greet the bus chanting, “Anthony who?” Thomas responds well to disrespect.
Another thing, Stringer fans, the zebras come straight from the zoo when you cross I-20 North. Don’t expect any friendly calls.
Nanih Waiya, 31, Stringer 14
