Week 8 Jasper County Predictions

Week 8 of the MHSAA football season is here. Here are our predictions of the games this week that involve Jasper County teams.

Bay Springs at Clarkdale

The Bulldogs lost a heart-breaker against Taylorsville last week. It was one of the best games I’ve seen in 2A. It had blocked punts, turnovers, long throws, hard runs, onside kicks, comebacks, and ultimately finished with a 36-yd field by the Tartars with time running off the clock. If you live in the area and missed this game, then shame on you. The Bulldogs would have made you proud for not quitting, and the young Tartars are getting back to their winning ways. No time to lick your wounds, Bulldogs. Bay Springs should produce a player of the week candidates this week against a weak Clarkdale team.

Bay Springs 39, Clarkdale 0.

Enterprise at Heidelberg

They Oilers need a reset, and there is no better time than the now. They have lost three in a row to some good competition. Enterprise should be the perfect warm-up for region play. That’s two cupcakes before you travel to Taylorsville. That’s right; you better start clicking soon. Those Tartars and Bulldogs are smelling your blood.

Heidelberg 34, Enterprise 22.

Mt. Olive at Stringer

I made a pretty bold prediction against the Red Devils, and fortunately, they did not take their anger out on me. Resurrection was not as fortunate. The Eagles probably didn’t like that mascot change I gave them in my last prediction either. Speaking of mascot changes, how does The Stringer Streakers sound…whoh. Let’s not even go there.

Stringer 48, Mt. Olive 6.

Sylva-Bay Academy at Columbia Academy

The Saints have one more lop-sided matchup to go before they hit their home stretch of district games. It has been a tough year for Sylva-Bay, but they do have some wins left on their schedule as long as the injury bug doesn’t bite too hard.

Columbia Academy 45, Sylva Bay Academy 6.
