Bay Springs (8-1) at Enterprise (7-1)
A big Region 5-2A matchup with one common denominator - both have one loss on the season, and that loss came against Taylorsville.
Originally scheduled for Friday but moved to Thursday because of possible showers and lightning, the Dawgs vs. Dawgs matchup should be a classic - until the fourth quarter. I expect Bay Springs to run away with this one late.
Prediction: Bay Springs 34, Enterprise 20.
Sebastopol (5-3) at Stringer (4-5)
The Red Devils and Bobcats are 3-2 in Region 4-1A. So is Mount Olive.
A win Friday night for Stringer, who has already beaten Mount Olive, will solidify their spot as the third-best team in the region.
Prediction: Stringer 20, Sebastopol 7.
Amite School Center (1-8) at Sylva Bay Academy (3-6)
Sylva Bay Academy has a good chance of winning back-to-back AAA District 3 titles. But they’ll need a win Friday night to leave no doubts, questions or tie-breakers. This should be an easy task for the Saints.
Prediction: Sylva Bay Academy 42, Amite School Center 6.
Wingfield (1-8) at South Jones (2-7)
It’s been a tough go for both South Jones and Wingfield.
Wingfield surprised Natchez two weeks ago in an upset, 28-6. They’ll be looking to do the same this Friday night on The Reservation.
South Jones needs to win out to make the playoffs, and a good, solid win Friday night could go a long way in making that happen.
Prediction: South Jones 24, Wingfield 21.
Northeast Jones (4-5) at Mendenhall (4-4)
In the first three weeks of Region 5-4A competition, Northeast Jones has done a solid job winning the games they should and keeping it close in games they’re not favored in.
Northeast Jones can’t let its guard down now. This week will be a fight to the end, and I’m afraid this outcome won’t be what the Tigers hope for.
Prediction: Mendenhall 34, Northeast Jones 33.
