Seminary head coach Brian Rials knows what it takes to compete in 3A football and that is a strong rush attack. His team got that when they totaled 337 yards on the ground last Friday night in a 32-23 victory against 4A opponent Stone.
The majority of those rushing yards came from senior tailback Jordan Barrett.
Barrett had a fantastic game, rushing for 195 yards on 24 carries. The senior was able to average 8.1 yards per carry during the contest. Along with a near 200 yard game, Barrett also rushed for two touchdowns.
Rials gave Barrett much praise for his performance on the gridiron.
“With Jordan, it is no surprise. We know what he can do. Some teams try to take away our inside game with him, but we did a really good job opening up our trap and belly series. He had a big game with almost 200 yards the other night. We are all proud of what he did and we know what he is capable of. Hopefully, we can keep getting him a bunch more games like he had Friday night.”
For Barrett, he knew he would have a great game due to who was surrounding him.
“I had confidence Friday night because of the team. We had great blocking throughout the game and everyone did their part.”
Seminary will look for their senior running back to once again step up to the plate as they play host to their second 4A opponent in a row, the Sumrall Bobcats this Friday night. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
