John Dossett

John Dossett signs with Belhaven.

Wednesday's National Signing Day in the Hattiesburg Impact/Sports601 coverage area began early at Mt. Olive as defensive lineman John Dossett signed to play football at Belhaven University.

Joined by family and friends, Dossett made it official, signing with the Blazers.

"I'm really excited to be able to sign today. It means I get to play football for at least four more seasons. Football is the sport I love and I cannot wait to get to Belhaven and keep playing it," said Dossett.

Dossett fell in love with the campus at Belhaven University, because it felt like home.

"I love the campus. Compared to other colleges, it is kind of like Mt. Olive. It is smaller, and that gives you a chance to know everyone and be friends with a lot of people. Those kinds of things helped my decision."

Head coach Dante Durr was excited to see one of his young men continue to play and receive a scholarship.

"It is a privilege to have a player sign a scholarship to play anywhere and continue their career. John has been with me for four years and worked very hard for this. He works hard in the weight room and on the field. He really deserves this moment. He has done everything I've ever asked him to do and he is a great football player."
