Here are your Forrest, Lamar, and Covington County predictions as picked by Kevan Lindsey.

Current record: 86-31, 73.50%

Oak Grove (10-3) at Petal (12-1)

Well, here we are.

The good news: We have two area teams facing off with one guaranteed to make the 6A State Championship.

The bad news: One fan-base is going to love this pick and the other is going to hate it.

Petal has been a defensive machine for the past month of football, allowing 43 points in their last five games. Not only has their defense played well, but the offense has as well. Led by DeCarlos Nicholson who has a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 11-2, the offense has averaged 403.6 yards per game and has totaled over 2,000 yards of offense through five games. Nicholson has accounted for nearly 50%, equating to a balanced offense for the Panthers.

Oak Grove is just as hot over five games. Their offense has put over 2,100 yards on the stat sheet averaging 438.2 yards per game. The defense, while not as aggressive as Petal’s, is still top-notch allowing 18.8 points per game. The Warriors’ quarterback, Damon Stewart, has also been on another level. Stewart has averaged 240 yards per game, thrown for 1,200 yards, and has a 16-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

I expect this game to be closer than the 21-7 game we saw back the first Friday in October, but the winner will likely be the same.
