Pearl River baseball set to host baseball showcase

POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River's baseball program is hosting a high school showcase July 7.

The event at Dub Herring Park is open to rising sophomores to unsigned seniors who have graduated (Class of 2020 to 2023).

The goal of the showcase is to give participants an opportunity to display their skills in front of college coaches. The clinic is structured like a pro-style workout, which will allow coaches to evaluate each camper in all areas of the game from speed and hitting to defense and pitching.

Registration is $100 and begins at 10 a.m.

To register, visit PRCCBaseballCamps.com. Anyone with questions can contact assistant coach and camp coordinator Brandon Pennington at bpennington@prcc.edu.

SUMMER BASEBALL

The Dub is hosting summer baseball this year, welcoming teams from the Deep South Collegiate League and Southeast Collegiate League.

The DSCL will play at The Dub on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while the SCL will use PRCC's facilities on Mondays.

A limited number of fans will be able to attend games due to ongoing state and national guidelines relating to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Games will be livestreamed at PRCCMedia.com in a pay-per-view format for $7 per day.

BIGGER AND BETTER

Fans who haven't attended a game at The Dub in the last couple of years may not recognize the Wildcats' home.

After constructing a new press box with two luxury suites, adding a turf infield, refurbishing the bullpens and installing 200 spacious chairback seats last offseason, the home for PRCC's baseball team took another step forward this spring.

The Wildcats broke ground on the second phase of expansion last fall, flanking the covered press box seating behind home plate with two more canopies and 200 more chairback seats stretching toward the dugouts.

PRCC also constructed two berms behind the dugouts that will allow for more lawn chair and picnic seating.
