ELLISVILLE – The Southeastern Conference opens its delayed 2020 football season this weekend and nine former Jones College Bobcats are currently on SEC rosters.
At Ole Miss, linebacker Daylen Gill is listed as a starter, while safety Jonathan Haynes and cornerbacks Jamar Richardson and Lakevias Daniel are listed on the two-deep depth chart. The Rebels host No. 5 Florida at 11 a.m. on Sept. 26 on ESPN.
Mississippi State has Fred Peters listed as the starting free safety on its depth chart. Offensive lineman Reed Buys and wide receiver Brodie King are also on the Bulldogs roster. The Bulldogs visit defending national champion and sixth-ranked LSU at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 on CBS.
At No. 23 Kentucky, Marquez Bembry is listed as the No. 2 middle linebacker. The Wildcats travel to No. 8 Auburn for an 11 a.m. start on Sept. 26 on SEC Network.
Stetson Bennett is the No. 3 quarterback for the fourth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia goes to Arkansas for a 3 p.m. SEC Network contest on Sept. 26.
Gill is a 5-foot-11, 220-pound junior and is listed as the No. 1 STAR linebacker on the Ole Miss defense. The Louisville, Mississippi, native was the leading tackler for the Bobcats in 2019 and was a two-year starter at Jones.
Haynes, a 5-foot-11, 205-pound senior from Ray Brooks High School, started 10 games as a junior last season. He started in 2017-18 for the Bobcats.
Richardson, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound junior from Aliceville, Alabama, redshirted in 2019 at Ole Miss. He was a two-year starter at Jones in 2017-18.
Daniel, a 6-foot,179-pound junior from Louisville, signed with the Rebels in December after starting two years for the Bobcats. He enrolled in January at Ole Miss.
Peters, a 5-foot-10, 200-pound senior from Columbia, appeared in all 13 of MSU’s games in 2019. He was a two-year starter at Jones in 2017-18.
King, a 5-foot-10,185-pound junior from Biloxi, is a walk-on at MSU after playing the 2018-19 seasons at Jones.
Buys, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound sophomore from Warren Central, played just the 2019 season at Jones. He was a late signee in May for Mississippi State.
Bembry, a 6-foot-3, 232-pound junior, saw limited action in 2019 with the Wildcats. The Stone Mountain, Georgia native played one season at Jones in 2018.
Bennett, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound junior, played in five games for Georgia in 2019, completing 20-of-27 passes for two touchdowns. The Blackshear, Georgia, native played the 2018 season with the Bobcats.
