HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Southern Miss head coach Jay Ladner has further strengthened his first Golden Eagle signing class with the addition of Auston Leslie, the 2019 Alabama 3A Player of the Year.
Leslie, a 6-foot-4 guard out of Westminster Christian in Huntsville, averaged 19.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.1 blocks per game as a senior. He also scored 26 of his team's 50 points in its state semifinal victory.
"Auston Leslie is a big-time athlete and will be a great player for the Golden Eagles," Ladner said. "He also plays for one of the best to ever coach in Alabama in Ronny Stapler. We are excited to get him in the Black and Gold."
Leslie's talents transcend to the outdoors as well. He is a two-time 4A long jump champion and was this year's runner-up in 3A. Leslie also boasts two-time reigning triple jump champ distinction while winning the 300-meter hurdles title this year.
Southern Miss previously announced the signings of Jeffery Armstrong (Rainsville, Ala.), Hunter Dean (Mandeville, La.) and Isaiah Jones (Phoenix, Ariz.) on May 10.
