USM Needs a Coach
Southern Mississippi is looking for a head basketball coach after the sudden resignation of Doc Sadler. Sadler took over the down ridden program five years ago and improved the Golden Eagles' record each year. The Eagles were 20-13 this season and finished second in C-USA play. Sadler is taking an assistant coaching job at the University of Nebraska. The top name mentioned by USM supporters is Tim Floyd, the former coach of the Chicago Bulls and the New Orleans Hornets who also has four college stops, His dad Lee Floyd coached at Mississippi Southern for 14 years. Floyd would be a long shot in that he is living in Nashville and may not be talked into the grind of college basketball. Jay Ladner is another top name being mentioned. Ladner has a big following on the coast as well as in the Pine Belt. He is presently the coach at SE Louisiana and led Jones County Junior College to a national title five years ago.
