Archie Manning passed for 218 yards and for the second straight week was named the SEC Player of the Week despite missing a quarter of the game with an injury.  The junior signal caller hit Riley Myers on a 42-yard pass and Jim Poole on a 4-yard pass. Leon Felts ran 17 yards for a Rebel touchdown. Cloyce Hinton kicked an NCAA record 59-yard field goal for the Rebels while Perry King booted a 29-yarder. Jones scored on the first play of the game on an 85-yard run as undefeated #9 NE Jones blanked Laurel, 39-0.  Jones rushed only four times for 104 yards and hauled in a 26-yard TD pass from Shannon Ishee. South Jones rippled past Green County, 34-14, as Jerry Jackson scored twice and Michael Robinson passed to Jason Phillips and Charles Watts for scores.Â

Taylorsville’s Gary McGill ran in the MHSAA prep record book as he scored three touchdowns in a 35-8 win over South Leake. McGill now has 88 career rushing touchdowns.Â
