WESSON – The 25thranked Jones College Bobcats blanked Copiah-Lincoln Community College 9-0 here Thursday afternoon.

Jones is now 3-0 on the season.

In the women’s match, the No. 22 Lady Wolves edged No. 17 Jones, 5-4. The Lady Bobcats are now 1-1.

Jones College will play its home opener at. 2 p.m. on Tuesday vs, Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The Bobcats dominated play in all matches.

In No. 1 singles, Jordi Morey (Spain) beat Braden Ishee, 6-1, 6-1 and Noel Monsalve (Venezuela) blanked Ray Drane in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Erich Fischer (Wesson) defeated Drew Nelson in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-0 and Jacob Johnson (North Pike) blanked Toby White in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Cody Courtney (Florence) whipped Jason Clayborn in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1. James McWilliams (Northwest Rankin) won No. 6 singles by forfeit.

The Bobcats did not lose a game in doubles.

Morey and Monsalve beat Ishee and Drane in No. 1 doubles. Fischer and Johnson defeated Nelson and White in No. 2 doubles, 8-0. Jones won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.

The Wolves fall to 0-3 on the year.

Co-Lin took two doubles’ points and the teams split the singles’ matches.

Ariadna Jordan (Spain) beat Carmen Manicea in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 7-6. Danielle Villjoen (Jackson) defeated Kara Clark in No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-3. Judith Mills (South Pontotoc) downed Faith Bergeron in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).

Paula Coronado defeated Mireia Jordan (Spain) in No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Katy Clark beat Kaitlyn Craig (Petal) in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0. In No. 5 singles, Ashlynn Locke downed Dixie Lei Hodges, 6-3, 6-4.

Viljoen and Mills claimed No. 3 doubles over Madison Shows and McKenzie Shows, 8-4. Coronado and Manicea edged Jordan and Jordan in No. 1 doubles, 8-6. Clark and Clark beat Craig and Hodges in No. 2 doubles, 8-1.

Co-Lin is 3-0 on the season.
