Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2019, at West Salem Baptist Church in Piave for Mr. Thomas Brent Walley, age 63, of Sand Hill who passed from his earthly home and crossed the gates of Heaven early in the morning of September 9, 2019, beside his loving wife, Eleanor. Brent was born in Hattiesburg on October 16, 1955 to Marilyn and Grady Walley of Sand Hill. Bro. Dwight Smith and Bro. John Henry will officiate. Burial will follow in Harmony Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ikey Byrd, Ethan Cole, Jim Agerton, Don Wade and Brannon Robertson with Don Fulmer as an honorary pallbearer.

Brent, a staple to the Sand Hill community, donated his time and talents to community and church events. He had an innate ability to include everyone and bring a hardy laugh to every room. Music was a large part of his life that included playing the drums, singing with a gospel band, leading the church choir and his favorite, singing and playing music with his siblings. He was a faithful and dedicated member of West Salem Baptist Church where he enjoyed directing the choir and teaching Sunday School.

Brent worked for Georgia Pacific for 30 years as an Environmental Engineer. His coworkers quickly became lifelong friends that shared many meals and laughs together over the years. From kids fishing rodeos to the office Christmas parties, Brent enjoyed planning and serving others.

A graduate of Sand Hill High School, Brent attended Mississippi State University and graduated from William Carey College with a degree in Biology.

His passions included anything related to hunting, fishing and being outside. Brent loved nothing more than being in nature with his beloved grandsons, teaching them how to bait their own hooks, ride 4-wheelers and look for deer in their kid sized binoculars.

Brent is survived by his caring wife of 41 years, Eleanor; his daughter Meg Jones, her husband Hunter, and son Jaxon of Madison, MS ; his son Nathan, his wife Candice, and son Waylon of Sand Hill, MS. Also, Brent’s brother, David Walley (Nancy) of Grand Bay, AL;sisters, Lisa Nichols of Sand Hill; and Theresa Byrd (Billy) of Sand Hill. Brent was blessed and loved dearly his 6 nieces and nephews.

Preceding Brent in his death are his parents, Marilyn and Grady Walley.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 11, 2019, 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at West Salem Baptist Church in Piave. Jones and Son Funeral Home in Richton will be in charge of arrangements.
