Ronald Earl Fortenberry Sr., 67, of Laurel, MS, passed away, Friday, October 28, 2022 at Oschner’s Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Crosspointe Church, 163 Bear Pen Creek Rd. Laurel, MS, 39443. The family will receive friends at 3:30 PM.
Colonial Chapel of Laurel is in charge of the arrangements.
Ronnie was born August 11, 1955 in Columbia, Mississippi to Darvin Earl and Mary Nell Fortenberry. He graduated from West Marion High School in 1974. On July 25, 1974, he married the love of his life, Linda Smith Fortenberry. They shared 48 beautiful years and had 3 children, Ron, Chris, and Sara. Ronnie was employed in retail supervision and worked for Hudson Salvage for 29 years. When Ronnie wasn’t working, he enjoyed watching football, being at his children and grandchildren’s events, or playing his XBox. He was a true family man with a gentle, patient spirit. He loved the Lord and instilled a strong, quiet faith in his children.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Linda Smith Fortenberry, his 3 children and their spouses: Ron and Erin Fortenberry of McComb,MS, Chris and Megan Fortenberry of Sumrall, MS, and Paul and Sara Anderson of Laurel, MS. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jackson, Anna Claire, Cooper, Ally, Ben, Abel, and Isaac. He is also survived by his brothers: Perry Fortenberry, Johnny Fortenberry, Brett Fortenberry, and Greg Fortenberry, along with his sisters in law and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
