A graveside service will be held at Sunset Cemetery on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. for Mrs. Merle Jean Williams, age 92, of Richton. Mrs. Williams passed away to her heavenly home on June 9, 2019, at the Perry County General Hospital. Rev. Amy Roller will officiate with Ms. Elaine Moser as a Speaker.
Pallbearers will be Mike Williams, Ben McIlwain, Todd Lee, Larry Walley, Brad Waterman and Jimmy White. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Ray Edwards, L.D. Ready, Doug Walley, Eddie Garris and Ben Jackson Lee.
Merle Smith Williams was born December 17, 1926, to Charles Dewey and Ellendor Culpepper Smith. She grew up in Richton and attended Richton Schools, Jones County Junior College and a business school, which she worked 19 years in that field. She and her husband were the owners of Williams Florist for 38 years and she was a member of First Baptist Church for 75 years and worked in many parts of the church. Merle and her husband, Conoy, hosted the Young at Heart in their home in the summers for some special times. She was also a member of the Richton United Methodist Church. Merle was a member of the Richton Home and Garden Club for over 50 years and the Richton Woman’s Club for a long time.
She was married to the love of her life, Henry Conoy Williams Sr. and they were blessed with two sons, Henry (Ann) Williams of Jackson and Mike (Lolita) Williams of Richton; grandsons, Mikey Williams of Mobile, AL, Chris (Jayne Clair) Williams of Richton; great-grandchildren, Isabella Williams, Brody Williams and Beau Williams. She also leaves behind special family friends, Ellen Bolton of Richton; Mike and Cathy Williams of Richton.
She will be remembered for her warm heart and special meals at her home.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2019, 1:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. at Jones and Son Funeral Home.
