Maty Catherine ‘Kathy’ Bankston, 74, of Taylorsville, Mississippi, died Tuesday, January 7, 2020, in Taylorsville, Mississippi. She was born Tuesday, March 27, 1945, in Smith County, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 9, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home and the Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery. Bro Danny Dickerson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.
Kathy, as known by her friends and family, was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
She was a strong, vibrant, giving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family and friends. She had an eye for fashion and decorating and loved to offer her advice freely. She enjoyed the company of her friends and family, working on her yard, tending to her many animals and shopping. Anyone who knew Kathy also knew that she was one of a kind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene Sr. and Mary West, brothers, Gene West Jr., Tommy West, sisters, Johnnie Faye Sullivan, Aleen Sims, brother-in-laws, Ricky Sullivan, Terry Sims, Robert Kelly.
Survivors include her husband of 17 years, David Bankston, daughter, Lynn Graham (Mitch), son, Warren Hough (Melissa), grandchildren, Regina Boyanton (Brandon), Kaci Hough, Brandon Stringer (Ashleigh), Nikki Hough (Scott May), Jacob Hough, great-grandchildren, Karter Gable, Graham Boyanton, sister, Peggy Kelly, sister-in-law, Judy West and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Shawn West, Wesley West, Brian West, Chase Jones, Scott May and Rusty Hosey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin West and Jamy Craven.
