Lucille Minnie Alderman Bryant began her earthly life in the Greenbrier Valley area of West Virginia in 1927, the daughter of a Methodist preacher and a devoted mother. Upon graduation from Marlinton High School in 1946 and a short time at a secretarial college in Charleston, West Virginia, she made her way to Florida, working in the secretarial pool at Eglin Air Force Base. It was there she met and married in 1950 her husband, Billie. The next fifteen years of her life were spent as a military spouse, following her husband across the United States, as well as Canada and England, and bearing and rearing her three sons. After her husband’s retirement from the Air Force in 1965, she made her home in Smith County, Mississippi, where she was active in her sons’ activities at Mize Attendance Center, at Mize Baptist Church and with Eastern Star. In the late 1970s, with her sons grown up and on their own, she embarked upon a second career in the medical field, becoming an Emergency Medical Technician at Smith County General Hospital, and later as a surgery tech, certified nursing assistant, and head of the purchasing department. After her own retirement, her years were spent following the lives and progress of her sons, their children and grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew her.
