James F. (Buddy) Anderson of Laurel, MS passed away peacefully at South Central Regional Medical Center on January 19, 2023 at the age of 79.  He was born December 13, 1943.

Buddy graduated from Stringer High School. He retired as Sergeant with the Army National Guard. He was a hard-working man and had jobs in oilfield sales, construction, owner of Buddy’s Seafood in Bay Springs, MS and truck driver and coordinator for Anderson Construction.

Buddy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time at Eagle Lake.  He enjoyed sharing his abundant catches with family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. (Buck) and Wilma Frank Grissom Anderson of Stringer, MS; his sisters, Nancy Spradley of Laurel, MS and Susan Brewer of Ft. Walton, FL.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jane Anderson; his daughter, Anna Marie Penton of Stringer; his sons, James Lee Hosey of Sandersville and Jason Anderson (Penny) of Laurel, MS; his stepsons, Joe Holmes (Tammy), Steve Holmes, and Randy Holmes (Cheryl) all of Laurel, MS; his sisters, Betty Anderson of Stringer, MS and  Margaret Carter (Bill) of Stringer, MS; his brothers, Johnny Anderson (Myra) of Bay Springs, MS and Ken Anderson of Stringer, MS; as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.   

At Buddy’s request, his body will be donated to Genesis Legacy Whole Body Donation Foundation for the advancement of medical education and research. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Laurel Church of Christ, 2830 Audubon Drive, Laurel MS where he was an active member.  Minister Bill Langley will be officiating the service.
