George W. "Shorty" Saul passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Shorty was born September 16, 1943, nine of eleven children to Virgil C Saul, Sr. and Lena Rogers Saul.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Violet Saul Nobles, Miller Saul, Ruby Saul Shaw, Virgil C. Saul, Jr., James Saul, O. C. Saul, and Vera Diane Saul.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Saul; three daughters, Mona Milligan (Sonny), Sandy Saul Wycoff (Greg) and Amberly Saul; two grandsons, Landen Saul, and Jace Wycoff; three siblings, Betty Saul Lowe (Doug), Lottie Saul Refice (Jim), and Margaret “Jean” Saul; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was an avid fisherman and a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. At 16, he began his career in the oilfield where he would go on to stay 57 more years and form many friendships that lasted his lifetime.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Memory Chapel in Laurel, MS, and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Doug Lowe Cemetery in Baxterville, MS. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to St. Joseph Hospice staff members for their compassion and support over the past year.
