Colon Edward Floyd, Sr., age 71, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. Mr. Floyd was born in Mize, MS on October 11, 1948.
He was a truck driver for R J Walters Trucking and was also retired from the National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon K. Floyd; mother, Lurline Dendy; father, Bewie Colon Floyd; and brothers, Mayo Dendy and Marlo Dendy of Mize.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marilyn Floyd of Laurel; son, Keith Rayburn of Evergreen, AL and J. R. Floyd of Laurel; daughters, Leanne May (Mark) of Quitman, Tanya Skipper (Glenn) of Shubuta, Kendra Rayburn of Laurel, and Angela Rayburn of Laurel; brothers, Graham “Booker” Floyd, Paul Dendy, and Talmedge Floyd; six grandchildren, Cole Avera (Taylor), Kayte Avera, Lexie Farmer (Wes), Paige Tisdale (Michael), Hunter Wilson, Keira Kellogg; and one great granddaughter, Parker Kate Avera.
Services will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, January 9th. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the service will follow at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at Myrick Cemetery. Bro. Rory Dill and Bro. Bo Bankston will officiate.
Pallbearers will be J. R. Floyd, Keith Rayburn, Cole Avera, Hunter Wilson, Brad Anderson, and Glenn Skipper. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Bankston and Blake Anderson.
