Fannie Lee Loper, affectionately known as “Granny Fannie” to many, was awarded her angel wings at her home on August 2, 2020. She was born in Hells Half Acre, AL on January 3, 1931, “daughter of a sharecropper”, to the late Daniel “Skeet” and Addie Threadgill. She was an LPN for 25 years and retired from the Biloxi Veterans Administration Hospital.
To call Granny Fannie a remarkable woman is simply not enough. An icon in Wiggins, her impact on the community and those around her was impossible to ignore. She never met a stranger and loved you from the moment she met you. Over the years, she collected countless “adopted” children and grandchildren, always saying, “Just call me Granny”.
She always had time for a hug, a conversation, and a little advice for you: “He’ll do to depend on”. Probably her most popular catch phrase, but a saying you could see was very apparent in her life and the way she treated others. Granny was a faithful member of Word Alive Revival Center and a faithful servant to the Lord for 78+ years.
Aside from her parents, Fannie is preceded in death by her husband, Everett Enos Loper; son, Johnnie Ray; and her siblings, Cecil Threadgill, Darien Threadgill, George Threadgill, and Willajean Blackwell.
Granny is survived by her children, George (Beth) Drury, Jr. of Houma, LA, Charles (Jan) Drury of New Orleans, LA, Houston (Lenora) Drury of Wiggins, and Liz Howard of Wiggins; Grandchildren, Brandy (Brad) Forrest, George (Leslie) Drury III, Georgia (fiancé Tyler), Ashley Lasseigne, Alexander Drury, Ashton Drury, Andy Drury, Alicia (Brent) Tice, James (Tish) Drury, Joseph (Trudy) Miller, and Jennifer (Ashley) Ladner; Great-Grandchildren, Rena, Jackson, Sloane, Lexie, Ethan (fiancé Emily), Emily, Camp, Allyn, Tyler, Jordan, Dylan, Lauren, Tyra, Kalli, Lydia, and Gabrielle; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild, MacKenzie, numerous nieces and nephews and “unofficially adopted” children and grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Word Alive Revival Center in Wiggins, MS, on August 15, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow the visitation.
