Stephen Martin Nagy Sr., 89, of Petal, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, at Magee Hospital. The family will hold a private graveside service.
Mr. Nagy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He worked at Camp Shelby for 44 years, retiring as the Property Manager. His rank was Chief Warrant Officer 4. He coached at Petal Optimist Club for many years and also served as the President. He was the Secretary of the Officer’s Club at Camp Shelby. He was a family man who loved his family and football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Rose Nagy; his brothers, Andrew Nagy and Gene Nagy; his sisters, Kathrine Baureaux, Pauline Holmes, Josephine Raper, and Ann Kramer.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanette McLaurin Nagy of Petal; his sons, Steve (Theda) Nagy, Jr. of Petal, and Ronnie Nagy of Petal; his daughters, Laura Nagy (Billy) Tharp of Petal, and Pam Nagy (Kevin) Cooper of Madison; 9 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brother, David Nagy of Hattiesburg; his sister, Margaret Ahern of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
