Bobby “B.J.” Helms, 75, of Lumberton passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020, at Merit Health Wesley. The family will be holding a gathering of friends at a later date.
Mr. Helms worked as an Insurance Agent for Mutual Savings up until his retirement. He had a real passion for grilling, he was a self-proclaimed grill master. He would often impersonate Justin Wilson. He also loved watching football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Nola Helms; four brothers, Paul Helms, T.C. Helms, Ollie Edward “Bud” Helms, and Willie Thomas Helms; his daughter, Penny Ferguson; two step-sons, Tommy Johnson, and Timmy Johnson; his granddaughter, Ashlyn Helms; and his grandson, Conner Moucheron.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Helms of Lumberton, MS; his son, Bobby Joe “Joey” Helms, Jr. of Senitobia, MS; his daughter, Brandy Moucheron of Purvis, MS; his step-daughter, Carol Cooper-Johnson of Loris, SC; three sisters, Maxine Ables of Brandon, MS, Faye Tilgham of Grenada, MS, and Vernell Denham of San Antonio, TX; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and his father and mother-in-law, Dock and Christine Cagle of Purvis, MS.
