Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2020, at the Wilmer Cemetery in Wilmer, Al for Mrs. Carrie Dees Burton, age 99, who passed from this life May 5, 22, 2020, at Perry County Nursing Center. Bro. Charles Mayo will officiate with burial to follow.
Mrs. Burton enjoyed any kind of game show that challenged her mind, especially word challenge and cross word puzzles. She was a riveter on planes at Brookley Field Air Force Base in Mobile, AL during WWII. She always took care of anyone in the family that needed it.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aurthur C. Burton; brothers, Louis Dees and Owen Dees.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne York of Richton; 3 grandchildren, Mike (Jody) Merritt of Lower Myrock, MS, Lisa Downing of Tennessee, and Mark (Nikk) Merritt of McLain; 8 great-grandchildren, Heather, Jennifer, Cody, Tori, Colton, Chelsey, Nick and Lawson; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.Alexander and Maya; sister, Leola Davis of Florida.
