Mary Alice was known for her cooking abilities and she loved cooking excessive amounts of food for any event. She always went above and beyond because she wanted everyone in attendance to leave full and happy. It always made her laugh when friends and family members jokingly said that her cooking was the reason they gained weight. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family. The family is comforted in knowing that she is reunited with her beloved husband, Bill, and her son, Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy C. James; parents, Hinton and Roma Duckworth; son, Mitchell James; and brother, Billy Joe Duckworth.

Survivors include her son, Danny James; daughter-in-law, Terri James; granddaughters, Amber Anderson and Autumn Blansett (Carey); great-grandson, Easton Anderson; brother, Cooper Duckworth; best friend, Lillian Coulter; and a host of friends and family.

Pallbearers will be John Phillip James, Brad Anderson, John Cooper Duckworth, Steve James and Cliff James.

Honorary pallbearer will be Dalton Snow.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her favorite caretaker, Brenda Wheeler, lovingly called ‘Big Mama’, and to the rest of the wonderful staff at Mississippi Care center of Raleigh for taking such good care of her and treating her like family during her time there.
