Rev. Jimmy Jones, 74, of Lumberton, was called home to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Funeral services for Rev. Jones will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2020, at the First Baptist Church of Purvis with interment in the Simmons Cemetery to follow.

Rev. Jimmy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Purvis and had worked as a farmer and in the oil fields until he was called to serve the Lord in 1989. He went on to become the pastor for Shiloh Baptist Church, Oakland Grove Baptist Church, Crooked Creek Baptist Church, Magee’s Creek Baptist Church and Conehatta Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Braxton and Elnora Jones; two brothers, B. B. Jones and Cecil Jones; and a sister, Dorothy Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Jones of Lumberton; two sons, Leighton (Melissa) Jones of Purvis, Daniel Jones of Lumberton; a brother, Roland (Shirley) Jones of Lumberton; two sisters, Roberta Nese of Pittsburg, PA, Mary Dunlap of Lumberton; three grandchildren, Katelyn (Michael) Jacobson, Nathanael Jones, Brett Jones; a great-grandchild, Winston Jacobson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Bro. Jimmy will be 1:00 p.m. until service time on Monday, June 15, 2020, at the First Baptist Church of Purvis.
