Carolyn Allen passed from this life on July 30, 2019 at the age of 81.

Carolyn grew up in the small east Alabama town of Wadley with a younger brother and was the daughter of Brannan and Luna Hardy. She was blessed to grow up in a loving family and excelled in her schoolwork at Wadley actually skipping a grade and graduating early at the age of 16. With her vivacious personality she was also a cheerleader for the Wadley High School Bulldogs and Homecoming Queen one year.

She worked at the Dime Store and then later at the small theater in Wadley. It was while she was working at the theater that she caught the eye of a tall skinny guy who would years later become her husband.

For a while she attended Auburn University to study pharmacy but left school to marry Milford G. (Bill) Allen and move to Sandersville, MS. After a short stay in Sandersville, they moved to Heidelberg, MS where they raised three children.

While in Heidelberg, she worked for the town doctor, W. H. Parker, for many years and then eventually for State Farm Insurance in Heidelberg and then Liberty National Insurance in Laurel.

Carolyn enjoyed reading, crafts, decorating, and always made a big deal over holidays and birthdays! Most of all, she enjoyed being a grandmother and spoiling her grandchildren.

Carolyn is pre-deceased by her husband of almost 63 years, Milford G. (Bill) Allen and is survived by her brother Spencer Hardy (Debbie) of Trussville, Al; her children Brannan G. (BG) Allen (Angela) of Brandon, MS, Bill H. Allen (Cathy) of Pelahatchie, MS, and Gina Allen Hand (Kevin) of Denham Springs, LA; her grandchildren Lauren Allen, Keely Allen, Justin Allen (Hannah), Casey Allen (fiancé AnnaBeth Bowman), Josh Hand (Lauren), Heather Olivier (Blake), and Jessie Hand; and her great-grandchildren J.P. Allen, Charlsey Anne Allen, and Briggs Olivier. She is pre-deceased by her great-grandchild Owen Olivier.

Visitation will be at the Heidelberg Baptist Church in Heidelberg, MS from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2nd, 2019 and the funeral will be on Saturday, August 3rd, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Heidelberg Baptist Church.

The pallbearers will be Justin Allen, Casey Allen, Blake Olivier, Brannan Hardy, Troy Hobson, Tom Lewis, and John Risher.
