Clemon Ladell Hathorn, a businessman and long-time resident of Laurel, died peacefully on May 28, 2019, at his home in Gautier, Mississippi at the age of 85.
Ladell is survived by his wife, Martha Munn Hathorn, his children, Vederia Hathorn Walker and Maria (Yvonne) Hathorn Marek; his sons-in-law Billy Walker and Dave Marek and his grandchildren: Latisha Gilliland Wynn, Mary (Katie) Walker Sartin, Gretchen Gilliland Dickey and Elizabeth (Beth) Walker Barndt; and 11 great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his father Clemon Lavelle Hathorn and mother Ettie Parker Hathorn.
Ladell was born in Laurel on September 11, 1933 to Clemon Lavelle Hathorn and Ettie Parker Hathorn. He graduated from the Laurel High School in 1952. He was a businessman in the Laurel, Hattiesburg, Meridian and Gulfport areas. Ladell was at one time the owner of Dell’s Texaco in Laurel, Hertz Rent-A-Car in Laurel, Hattiesburg, Meridian and Gulfport as well as other businesses in Laurel.
Ladell was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed fresh and salt water fishing, boating and deer hunting with family and friends.
Visitation is Friday, May 31, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on June 1, 2019, at the Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, Mississippi.
