Mildred Heard, 90, of Bay Springs, Mississippi, died Saturday, February 23 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. She was born Tuesday, October 2, 1928, in Bay Springs, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on February 26, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs. Burial followed at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Bay Springs, MS. Bro. Abram Atchison officiated. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Heard; parents, Henry and Carrie Sims; son, James Heard II; brothers, Adam Sims, Eddie Sims and Howard Sims; sisters, Bettie Thompson, Annie Dixon, Annette Stockman and JoAnn Tisdale.
Survivors include her son, Stephen Heard (Pam); granddaughters, Melissa Avary (Marc) and Sarah Rogers (Hunter); grandsons, James Heard and Trey Heard (Olivia); 6 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Marc Avary, Jay Heard, Mason Avary, Gary Sims, Dennis Stockman, and Mallory Avary.
