J.W. Strickland, age 94, passed away peacefully Thursday September 24, 2020. He was born on September 20, 1926, in Collins, Mississippi. Mr. Strickland was a veteran of WWII.
J.W. is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Moore Strickland; parents, James Pinkney and Pricilla Brown Strickland; sons, James Ottice Strickland and Randall Ray Strickland; brothers, Roy Strickland and Donald Strickland; sisters, Lela Creel, Juanita Graves, and Earline Williams; grandson, Ricky Lancaster, great-grandchildren, Adison Burke and James Hamilton Burke, and daughter-in-law Linda Sue Strickland.
Mr. Strickland is survived by his sons, Gill Strickland of Ocean Springs, MS and Bruce Strickland of Wiggins, MS; daughters, Linda Davis of Wiggins, Helen (Walter) Jenkins of Gulfport, MS and Sherlyn (Danny) Lawson of Perkinston, MS; daughter in-law, Madlyn Strickland of Ellisville, MS; sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and eight great great-grandchildren. J.W. is also survived by his brother, Harvey Earl (Edie) Strickland and sister Brenda Gunter.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Moore Funeral Services. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2020 ,at Moore Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Big Level Cemetery. Moore Funeral Services in Wiggins is in charge of arrangements.
