Jean Peacock, 87, of Richton, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020, at Bedford Care Center in Petal. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Indian Springs Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery to follow.
Mrs. Peacock was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved family dinners. She loved sitting in her rocking chair on her front porch reading her Bible. She was a quiet and gentle soul, but her girls could bring out a tiny bit of mischief that would end in a great laugh. Her boys were her pride and joy, she lit up when they walked in a room. She was married to Buddy for 69 years, they spent everyday living out the vows they made to each other.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Wayne Peacock; her parents, Buford and Elma Hollingsworth; her sisters, Molly McAlpin, and Dutch Walters; and her brother Vestell Hollingsworth.
She is survived by her husband, Lowery “Buddy” Peacock of Richton; her daughter, Janice Howard of Richton; her son, Tony (Rose) Peacock; her daughter, Dedra Ellis of Richton; her daughter, Sandy Melvin of Petal; her son, Randy Peacock of Richton; her daughter Dorothy Matthews of Richton; her grandchildren, Chuck (Andrea) Melvin, Stephanie (Allen) Mooney, Mandie (Masin) Sonnier, Felecia (Zach) Cameron, and Stevie (Candi) Ellis; 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, Henry (Myrtis) Hollingsworth of Dixie; her sister, Lorena Draughon of Dixie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Peacock will be 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Indian Springs Baptist Church.
