Pat T. McInnis, 91, a long-time resident of Mobile passed away at Providence Hospital on 24 June, 2020. Pat, the son of the late S.J. McInnis and Zona Howard, was born 7 April, 1929, in Tibbie, Alabama.
He was a member of the 1945 graduating class from Murphy High School. He attended Auburn University for two years and then returned to Mobile in 1947 to join the workforce at the Gulf Ship Corporation, Chickasaw, AL for 3 years. In 1950, he was drafted during the Korean War callups and served in the U.S. Army in Germany during his three years of military service. After his service ended, he returned to Mobile and went to work at Palmer-Baker Engineers and then later as a Civil Engineer at Brown and Root until he eventually retired. He was also a long-time sailor who competed in numerous races out of the Fairhope Yacht Club for many years and a member of several Mystic organizations, who paraded each year for well over 60 years. He also was a wonderful carpenter and then taught stained glass classes at one of the local community centers.
Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Blankenchip McInnis; his parents, S.J. McInnis and Zona Howard; and great-grandchild, Gregory Mynes Pettey, Jr.
He is survived by his step-brother, Ronnie J. Eubanks (Dianne) of Tibbie, AL; step-sons Colonel Robert Wesley Ellis, Jr. (Laura) USMC (Ret.) of Centreville, VA, Michael Thompson Ellis (BevAnn) of Fairhope, AL; daughter Edith Ann Ellis of Tampa, FL; step-son Gregory Paul Ellis (Beth) of Dunedin, FL; grandchildren, Michelle Ellis Pettey (Greg) of Auburn, AL, Lauren Ellis Rice (Tom) of Aldie, VA, Alexis Ellis McKenzie (Shane) of Wichita, KS, Tyler Ellis (Pam) of Nolensville, TN, Robert Ellis of Arlington, VA, Erica Ellis Marcussen (Matt) of Ft. Worth, TX, Allison Ellis of Clearwater, FL.
As part of his incredible legacy, Pat was also surrounded by his 4 nephews and nieces with their 6 children and his 10 great-grandchildren which kept him young at heart.
When gatherings are once again considered safe, a graveside memorial service will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery, Citronelle, AL sometime in the near future.
