Janice Dee Carr, 81, passed away at her residence, surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 2, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at the Purvis Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with interment in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery to follow.
Janice was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she played the piano and taught Bible study classes. She had a long career teaching English in the public schools systems and as well as teaching English at William Carey University. She enjoyed painting and was an accomplished artist.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Carr, Sr., a daughter, Shannon Nelson; a brother, H. A. Dobson; four sisters, Laura Frances Morris, Mary Blanche Meinhardt, Ruth Marie Dobson, and Ouida Arlene Christensen.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Morgan of Hattiesburg; three sons, Stephen Nelson of Purvis, James (Patty) Carr, Jr. of Hillsdale, Ronny (Angela) Carr of Purvis; a brother, M. J. Dobson of Citronella, AL; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and many other friends and family.
Visitation for Janice will be 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at the Purvis Chapel of Moore Funeral Home.
