Hazel “Mimi” Eloise (Toney) Sellers, age 86, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Wiggins. She was born July 31, 1933, in Franklinton, LA, to Reverend Charles Pinkney Toney and his wife, Chinesey Toney. She was married to Thomas “Haskell” Jefferson Sellers at the age of 15. They would go on to divorce and later remarry. He preceded her in death, as did her second husband, James Clark.

Mimi was known for her delicious cooking—especially homemade biscuits and chocolate pie—and beautiful flower gardens. She worked for many years as a secretary at the VA in Biloxi from which she retired. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Mimi is also preceded in death by her parents; brother, L.E. Toney; son, Wayne Sellers of Magnolia; and granddaughter, Chelsea Sellers of Wiggins.

Mimi is survived by her sister Elsie (Bobby Jo) Cooley of Bond; sisters-in-law Annie Mae Toney of Baton Rouge and Essie Sellers Hickman of Perkinston; sons Keith (Libby) Sellers of Janice and Eugene (Debbie) Sellers of Petal; daughter Patty (David) Tait of Wiggins; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who brought her so much joy.

A private funeral service was held at the family’s burial site behind the Sellers’ home on Friday, April 17, 2020, at 11:00 am. Moore Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
