Funeral services for Frances Thorne Smith, 80, of Raleigh were held Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Bro. Tim Robertson and Bro. Pete Pearson officiated. Pallbearers were Stephen Mullins, Terry Brannan, Randy Speights, Robbe Mahaffey, David Smith, and Donald Derrick.
Mrs. Smith died February 15, 2019, at Simpson General Hospital. She graduated from Jones County Junior College in 1993 at the age of 55, becoming a Registered Nurse and started her twenty year nursing career at Simpson General Hospital where her co-workers were not friends, they were family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Carl Smith; sons, Gary Smith and Phil Smith and her parents, Roy and Lillian Thorne.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Lee (Randy) of Polkville; grandchildren, Ben Lee (Gretchen), Adriane Brannan (Bubba), Hannah Smith, Allie Mullins (Stephen) and Faith Smith and six great-grandchildren.
