Opal Hancock Mitchell 92, of Glendale, passed away at Forrest General Hospital on Tuesday, April 28, 2020. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at Highland Cemetery.
Opal was a homemaker and of the full gospel faith. She enjoyed doing needlepoint and spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Hallard Bufkin Hancock, Sr. and Leslie Mitchell; a son, Hal Hancock, Jr.; parents, William and Grace Daugherty; a granddaughter, Lisa Mitchell; a grandson, Shane Mitchell; a great-grandson, Kasey Haden; two brothers, Gerald Daughtery, Reece Daughtery; and two sisters, Ruby Shanks and Rita Mae Ball.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty J. Pearce of Glendale, Sandra R. Smith of Seminary, Deborah M. Mitchell of Hattiesburg; a sister, Clara June Webster of Harriman, TN; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
