Ray Vernon Miles, 73, of Purvis, Mississippi, died Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was born Thursday, December 19, 1946, in McNeill, MS.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church and the Burial will follow in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Amy Roller will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Ray served in the US Army and is a Vietnam War Veteran. He lived in Bay Springs for 18 years before moving to Purvis. He also spent 20 years in the Oilfield Industry in the Middle East. He loved reading his Bible daily. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a diehard Nascar fan. Ray loved his Lord and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Voncil Miles, sister, Marcia Miles, brother, Joey Miles.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Connie Upton Miles, daughters, Tammi West (Shay), son, David West (Nancy), grandchildren, Hannah West, Sadie West, Noah West, Elim West, Addison West, daughters, Monica and Michelle, brother, David Miles (Faye), and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Zee Rice, Johnny Griffin, Elim West, Noah West, David West, Herman Walker, and Chris Upton.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Sea and Sun Camp, P.O. Box 182, Biloxi, MS 39533, a camp for kids who are visually impaired and blind.
