Gilbert John Buquet Sr., 81, a native of Harvey LA, and Houma LA and resident of Rose Hill, Mississippi, died Wednesday, August 19, 2020, in Rose Hill, Mississippi. He was born Wednesday, October 12, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. at Bay Springs City Cemetery and burial will follow in Bay Springs City Cemetery. Bro. Ed King will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Glibert was a loving and hardworking husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, friend, and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force. He enjoyed tending to his garden, being in the deer stand, playing slot machines, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Enest and Emily Buquet, son, Baby boy Buquet, brother, Henry Buquet, sisters, Malvin Buquet Oregan, Alice Buquet Lopez.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joyann G. Buquet, sons, Gilbert Buquet Jr. (Darlene), Chris Buquet (Georgia), Greg Buquet (Dayla), grandchildren, Jessica Arceneaux (Lee), Justin Buquet (Shellie), Brittney Buquet, Gennia Buquet, Shawn Buquet, Hayden Buquet, great-grandchildren, Stanley Arceneaux, Emma Rose Buquet, sister, Delphine Woodsley, brother, Gibson Buquet (Jane), loving pet, ‘Smokey’.

Pallbearers will be Gilbert Buquet Jr., Chris Buquet, Greg Buquet, Lee Arceneaux, Justin Buquet, and Hayden Buquet.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn M. Buquet.
