Carol May Kinnard High, 80, of Grand Prairie, TX, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, MS. A memorial service will be held online at a later date.
Mrs. Carol K. High was born and raised in Grand Prairie, TX, daughter of Albert Laban Kinnard, Sr and Frances Eugenia “Jean” Loyd Kinnard and sister of Albert Laban “Butch” Kinnard, Jr, and wife of Jarald Eugene “Gene” High for 52 years, all of which have preceded her in death.
Carol was of the Baptist faith. She was in banking most of her life, starting her career as a receptionist and rising to the level of Assistant Vice President of Republic Bank Dallas. After her retirement, she was an associate with Merle Norman, always looking much younger than she was.
She is survived by three children, and their spouses: Dr. Kimberly “Kim” Ann High Jameson (wife of Laura “Joy” Gabriel) and their son, Shaun Gabriel, of McMinnville, OR; Brent Eugene High of Grand Prairie, TX, and Dr. Loyd Bartlett (husband of Kelly Boren) High and their children, Luke and Sarah, of Petal, MS.
Her long-time friend and companion after the death of her husband - Billy Mobley of Grand Prairie, TX; One brother-in-law, Terry (husband of Kathy Hill) High, their children Brandon (husband of Kim) and their two children Darcy and Nathan of Grand Prairie, TX and Cheri (wife of Troy) Ramsey and their 7 children Kendall, Jordan, Katie, Jacob, DJ, Josh, Krysta and her child Charlie of Searcy, AR; And two sisters-in-law, Mary Caudle (wife of Al “Butch”) Kinnard of Garland, TX, their children Tracy (husband of Laurie) Kinnard and their 3 children, Gage Kinnard of MT, Kailynn (wife of Colten) Williams and their son Kaiden of Josephine, TX, Taylor (husband of Jessica) Jones of Plano, TX, and Brian (husband of Carla) Kinnard and their 3 children, Matthew, Meredith, and Mason of Greenville, TX , Lori Ann Kinnard (wife of Chris) Melton and their 2 children Micah, and Kassi of Hutto, TX; And Charliene High Hooker (wife of William “Bill” Louis) Hamilton of Houston, TX and their four children Steven Jay (husband of Rick Ankrom) Hooker of Houston, TX, and Dr. Jonna (wife of Douglas Barton) Whitman and their two children Meredeth Ann and Reed of Nashville, TN, Leigh Ann Hamilton (wife of Joe) Bogar of Austin, TX, and their two Kristin and Kathryn and William Mark (husband of Stephanie) Hamilton and their 3 children William Henry, Robert Louis and Michael Christian Hamilton of Houston, TX.
As the matriarch of the Kinnard Clan, Carol was close with her double cousins, Sue (wife of Sonny) Kinnard, Steve (husband of Mary) Kinnard, and Robbie, Susie, Patrick and Mike Kinnard and Eddie and Chris Trotter.
Carol had close friendships with people she worked with over the years including Danel Dawkins of Arlington, TX and Virginia “Ginger” Perego (passed) of Shreveport, LA, which all three shared her passion for photography and her Bingo buddies, where she was always known as a friendly, classy, and generous person.
Although from meager beginnings, she worked hard all her life with her husband Gene to provide for their children and create a relatively comfortable life. All three of her kids graduated college and two went on to become doctors.
Carol loved photography and traveled to all 50 states in the USA and to Mexico, where her father was born. One of her favorite places to visit was Hawaii, her favorite pastimes were bingo, visiting flower festivals and seeing Broadway Musicals. She was a dog lover all her life and nearly always had a dog on her lap at home, mostly miniature schnauzers. Her favorite inspiration was hummingbirds and she had a penchant for photography and oil painting, especially of rural landscapes with her beloved Texas Bluebonnets.
