Services for Mr. Bobby Allen Holmes, age 77, of Richton will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday July 7, 2020, in the chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home. Public viewing will be from 9:30 till services begin. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm at the Lewis Family Cemetery in the Lexie Community in Walthall County.
Bobby attended Ole Miss with a full ride football scholarship until marring the love of his life Carolyn Holmes causing him to transfer to Southern Mississippi State where he played football and graduated. Once he retired, he relocated from the Dallas Texas area to Beaumont Mississippi to be close to his lifelong friend Jerry West. Upon Carolyn’s death December 2016, he remarried Jolene Wanda Roberts
Bobby’s love was serving his family and serving Jesus. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher along with any other needs the church might have he could do. He reached out to the community on numerous occasions included but not limited to being Santa Clause on several occasions, ministry at the Richton nursing home and weekly ministry at CDR. He enjoyed working on his land and helping those in need. All those who knew him, knew him as a God- fearing true and faithful friend.
He was proceeded in death by his first wife Carolyn Holmes, his brother Jesse Holmes and sister Jeanette Breau.
He is survived by his second wife Jolene Wanda Holmes; Bobby and Carolyn’s children Angela Thorp, Christi Holmes and Leesa Short. His grandchildren Jessica, Jennifer, Jonathan, Starling, and Laura; his great grandchildren Levi, Elayna, Barrett, Wyatt, Madox, Becki, Logan, Landon, Perrin, Evie and Kaylee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Richton.
